Daniela León

With more than 6 years of experience within the United Nations system, I have worked in mainstreaming migration into national and local policies, creating advocacy strategies, and project development. Experienced in collaborating with key governmental counterparts, interagency coordination, participating in high-level meetings, and supporting regional migration governance mechanisms. Previously worked with IOM Ecuador on mainstreaming migration projects and visa registration processes and served as a consultant for enhancing state capabilities in migration management. Vast experience with civil society organizations in roles such as project coordinator, policy advocacy consultant, working on research and fieldwork focusing on the protection and promotion of the rights of refugees and asylum seekers- victims of the Colombian armed conflict, strengthening the participation of women rural water boards in the Ecuadorian Amazon, and education projects with underprivilidged children for the prevention of child labor. Holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Universidad de las Américas (Ecuador) and an MSc in International Development from SOAS University of London (UK), Fluent in Spanish and English, with proficiency in French and basic Portuguese. Passionate about humanitarian causes and fostering inclusive communities.
