What was your experience of the training activity on ILS reporting?

The distance learning component on ‘Best practices in ILS Reporting’ held in 2013 was most interesting as it adequately introduced me to the subject of ILS reporting. It addressed multiple topics within the context of ILS reporting in depth, ranging from report types, forms, content, cycles, Committee of Expert’s comments to the ILO Conference Committee on the Application of Standards, to state a few. The course made use of interactive teaching methods and the materials were concise and reader-friendly with applicable exercises and assignments to facilitate understanding of the topic. Notably, the training was sustained by competent, supportive staff that provided prompt feedback on tutorial exercises, queries and adequately guided us in the assignment.


What did you find useful for your personal and institutional objectives?  Have you applied the results of the training in your country?

The workshop adequately introduced and equipped me with the applicable knowledge on ILS reporting to best carry out my duties in this context. It was especially opportune as I had just then been appointed by the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources Development (MLHRD) to oversee its international relations, noting that the MLHRD is responsible for the coordination of ILS reporting in Seychelles in collaboration with relevant national stakeholders, including social partners.

The knowledge acquired from the training was immediately applied to outstanding reports on ILO Conventions ratified by Seychelles.


If you were to tell your colleagues about that training activity and the Centre, what would you say?

The training at the Centre is very comprehensive as it addresses the topics in depth, supported by interactive teaching methods that facilitate understanding of the subjects. The workshop also boasts professional and knowledgeable lecturers and facilitators. The facilities at the Centre sustain diversity and also create a conducive environment for learning.
